Service Description

Course Includes: I-200 Basic ICS- 1 hour L-280 Followership to Leadership- 20 hours S-215 Fire Operations in the Wildland/Urban Interface- 36 hours INSTRUCTOR LED DATES (1) June 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 (2) July 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 (3) August 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 (4) September 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 (5) October 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 10-hour class days to emulate minimum shift requirements on incident, staging, severity, and operational preparedness. *With >1/2-hour lunches and varied intermission. I-200, Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, reviews the ICS and supports higher level ICS training. Students will be able to summarize basic information about the ICS and National Incident Management System (NIMS). Course Prerequisites: IS-100.c An Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100) L-280, Followership to Leadership, gives students the opportunity to self-assess themselves while stepping into a leadership role while working on problem-solving strategies in small groups. Topics include leadership principles and values, situational leadership, team cohesion factors, transition challenges for new leaders, ethical decision-making, and after-action review techniques. Course Prerequisites: Experience on incident assignments in operations or support functions. Successful completion of L-180, Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service. S-215, Fire Operations in the Wildland/Urban Interface, focuses on pre-incident planning, initial strategy options, firefighter safety, structure triage and protection overview, human factors in the interface, tactics in the interface, action assessment, plan update, and after-action review. Course Prerequisites: Qualified as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) Minimum Requirements: 1. Work on at least three wildfire incidents that include hotline activities and total at least fifteen (15) Operational Periods, 10 of these on any Type 1-5 incidents This meets requirement for satisfactory performance as FFT2 and one season of experience. 2. Eligible to become a FFT1 Trainee once above requirements are met. 3. Complete S-131, S-133, IS-700.a, and ICS-200. 4. Firefighter becomes an ICT5 Trainee. 5. Complete Annual RT-130 training. 6. Pass annual Work Capacity Fitness Test (Arduous). 7. Complete at least three evaluation assignments on Type 1-5 wildfire incidents, including hotline activities, totaling 15 operational periods (10 on Type 1-5 incidents), and finish FFT1/ICT5 task book. 8. Achieve ICT5 certificate
